The Bronco Varsity Softball team opens the 2026 season with a big win over Immanuel Christian, 20-2. Junior Cambria Lanphear had a historic day, belting 3 home runs, including a bomb over the fence in left field. Bishop’s home field fence is 230 feet from home plate, making Lanpear’s homer a rarity.
Sadie Mairs started on the mound, pitching 4 innings, allowing 1 unearned run on 6 walks, 4 Ks, and no hits.
Freshman Feather Montoya came in, in relief in the 5th inning, throwing 1 inning and allowed 1 unearned run on 1 hit.
Offensively,
Cam Lanphear led the team, going 4 for 4 with 3 homeruns, taking one out over the left field fence at diamond 2 at 230 ft. Bringing in 3 RBIs and 4 runs scored
Braydee Momberg was 2 for 3, with a homerun and 2 runs scored
Faye Spoonhunter was 2 for 4 2 2 stolen bases, 3 RBIs, and 2 runs scored
Tannyr Ludwick was 2 for 3, with a homerun, 1 walk, 2 stolen bases, and 2 runs scored
Aubree Frechette was 1 for 2 with a double, 1 stolen base, and 2 runs scored
Ellie Boyd was 1 for 2, 2 stolen bases, and 1 run scored
Azul Aranzubia was 1 for 2, 1 hit by pitch, 1 stolen base, and 1 run scored
Laila Beall was 1 for 1 with 1 walk and 2 runs scored
Taylor Currie was 1 for 2 with 1 run scored
Ginger Lowden was 1 for 1 with a double, and 1 run scored
Feather Montoya was 1 for 1 with 1 homerun

The girls had a solid 1st outing. Both catchers, Ellie Boyd and Braydee Momberg, picked off baserunners.
Coach Manuelito said it was a strong defensive game for the entire team.
On Friday the 6th, Bishop varsity softball will be on the road to Tehachapi.
