Three Bronco Football players represented their tribe and school at the 2026 Indigenous Bowl game Sunday at the Soboba Reservation Oaks Sports Complex in southern California. Richie Talavera, Carlos Sualez, and Emory Dondero played on the “Black” team that fought to a 14-14 tie with the “White” team.
The Trio of Broncos played key roles in the game, with Dondero throwing touchdown passes to both Sualez and Talavera. Talavera also had an interception for his team, helping him earn one of the game’s MVP honors. The coaching staff named a pair of MVPs from the opposing team. Talavera won a medallion and a one-thousand-dollar scholarship.
The game featured Native athletes from around the United States and Canada. This year’s trio of Broncos joins alum Cain Omohundro as recent athletes who have played in an Indigenous Bowl Game. Omohundro played in the 2022 Indigenous Bowl in Minneapolis Minnesota.
Sualez, Talavera, and Dondero were key contributors to the Broncos 2025 CIF Championship team. All three were named 1st team All League following their senior seasons.
