in a thrilling season finale, the Bishop Junior Varsity Mathletes journeyed to silver valley on February 19th with one mission bring home the championship. And they did just that in epic style. With a dominating season total of &3 points,Bishop left their competition in the mathematical dust, outscoring second place Rosamond by over 10 points. The rest of the league?Boron (35),Tehachapi (34),and Silver Valley (23) all trailing far behind.Bishop’s total was more than double the points. of the third-place team. That’s not just a win. That’s a statement.
This wasn’t luck. This was strategy, teamwork, and pure math power ,The JV team stormed the season, claiming five spots on the top ten overall :
- Santi Lopez (3rd)
- Clare Haverstock (4th)
- Bram Crall (5th)
- Granite Puhvel(7th)
- Ruby Vandehoven(8th)
And they weren’t alone. Mathletes like Adan Perez,Scarlett Buchholz,Reagan Dermod,Sydney Garcia,Amaya Hays,Tatum Swason,Wayland Schultz,Alexis Solorio and Kevin Rivas pushed the limits at every meet, each fighting for top-ten honors.
The final meet wasn’t easy. With problems like:
3(6-3x)=10-(0.6 x 27 x 1067 / 2134)
It tested the limits of every calculator and Brain in the room. But Bishop rose to the challenge.
Coach DeeDee Buchholz beamed with pride.”The JV team had a great season this year. They worked as a team and improved each meet.I can’t wait to see what next year brings”.
The Varsity squad has one meet left-April 2nd at Bishop Union High School- and they’re aiming to lock in their own first- place finish.Let’s show up and support them as they carry the touch forward!
