Broncos Come Out On Top of a Nail-biter

The Broncos came into Tuesday night’s game looking to hand the Scorpions their 3rd loss of the season and keep their hopes of securing the second place spot in the High Desert League. The Broncos came out strong doing a good job of passing and making good shots, which showed in their 11-4 lead after one quarter. In the second quarter, the Scorpions did a good job of finding their open man as well and were able to cut the Broncos lead down to just 2 points before the half.

At the start of the second half the Broncos came out and played well like they had all game and really took advantage of all the fouls that the Scorpions were getting, and going into the fourth quarter they looked like they were in really good shape to come out of the game without too much trouble. The beginning of the fourth quarter went the way of the Broncos, but then the Scorpions started chipping away at the 16 point lead the Broncos had built up, and with just a minute and a half left, they were only down by 4 points. Despite cutting the Bronco’s lead all the way down to just one point, a couple of huge free throw shots put the Broncos up by a final score of 52-49.

Cal Omohundro won the coveted Denny’s Bronco Slam Player of the Game Award last night thanks to the phenomenal performance he had. Other notable performances for the Broncos include Luke McClean, Clay Omohundro, and Blaine Spoonhunter.

The Broncos next game is this Friday when they will hit the road to take on the top team in the High Desert League, the Cal City Ravens.
