Donkeys Spoil Broncos HDL Opener

The Bronco varsity basketball team had their first home game against Burroughs Burros. They put up a fight throughout the whole game but still came up short 48-22.  We asked head coach Ben Arcularius how he thought his team did against a quality opponent he responded with “Our girls competed for the whole game. That is all you can ask against any opponent. The fact that we didn’t back down and made them work made us proud of the performance.”

The Broncos ended the game with two injuries: Drew Dondero with a concussion and Liza Joya with a shoulder injury. Ben was also asked about how he thought the game would’ve ended without having girls hurt. He said, “Injuries are part of any team and season. The luxury of a fully healthy roster is something that you can’t count on. This is why we try to develop every player on our team. We expect the next player in the rotation to step up. And I thought they did that against Burroughs.”

Game Stats:

#2 M. Braithwaite led the team in shots made scoring 7 points

#10 L. Allen led the team in steals with 3 steals

#20 D. Dondero led the team in blocks with 2 blocks

#10 L. Allen led the team in defensive rebounds with 7 rebounds
