Broncos Off to Hot Start in League Play

The Kern Valley Broncs came into town yesterday for the Bronco’s first league game. After Brodie Maloney held the Broncs scoreless in the top of the first, the Broncos managed to bring two runs across in the bottom half of the inning thanks to a 2 RBI double by Maloney, but the Broncos’ bats really began to come alive in the second, plating 9 runs on a combination of walks and hits. The third and fourth innings for the Broncos were much of the same, with the boys bringing home ten runs in each inning. The Broncs on the other hand struggled to figure out Maloney, only being able to bring across one run in the top of the fourth on one hit. Freshman Landon Kruse came on to relieve Maloney in the fourth, and finished the game.

In the Broncos 31-1 win, Senior Brodie Maloney went 3 2/3 innings on the mound, giving up 1 earned on 1 hit with 4 walks and 7 strikeouts. At the plate Maloney went 2-4 with a 2 RBI double, Senior Justin Yates went 4-5 with 3 RBIs and 5 runs, Senior Lorenzo Parra hit for the cycle, going 4-6 with 10 RBIS, a 2B, 3B, HR, and a 1B and Junior Michael Kubiak went 3-4 with 2 doubles, a triple, and 5RBIs.

The Broncos will take on Rosamond on the road this Friday, so wish them luck!
