Bronco Boys Go 1-1 in Ridgecrest

The Broncos played their last games before jumping into league play this weekend when they took on the Ridgecrest Burros on the road. The boys played their first game on Friday, with Senior Justin Yates getting the start. After the Broncos were unable to score in the top of the first, Ridgecrest jumped out to a three run lead, which didn’t hold up as the Broncos answered with three runs of their own in the second. After an uneventful third inning and top of the fourth, the Burros managed to bring home two more runs which held up to give them the win 5-2. Yates pitched very well despite getting the loss, he went 6 innings, giving up 3 earned on 4 walks and 4 strikeouts.

On Saturday the boys bounced back and got the 11-7 win behind Junior Matthew Rosga’s start. The Broncos were the first to strike, bringing home a run in the first, four in the third and three in the fourth. Burros managed to get four across in the fifth, but the Broncos got two of those back in the sixth and one more in the seventh. Ridegcrest managed to score three more runs in the final inning but eventually fell short of Bishop. Rosga went 6 1/3 innings allowing 3 earned runs on 7 hits, 2 walks and 3 strikeouts, and Michael Kubiak closed the game on 2/3 of an inning allowing not hits and earning a strikeout to finish the game.

The Broncos will take on Kern Valley here at home to kick off league play on Tuesday at 3:15, so come out and support the Broncos and wish them luck!
