The Minnesota Viking Quarterback Situation

Viking Quarterback Decision, Opinion Article by Clara Place

As the 2018 NFL season draws to a close, the Minnesota Vikings are in an interesting situation. In the 2018 season the Minnesota Vikings had four quarterbacks signed: Sam Bradford, Teddy Bridgewater, Case Keenum, and Kyle Sloter. Teddy Bridgewater was the quarterback who was starting for the Minnesota Vikings two years ago. When Teddy Bridgewater got injured, Sam Bradford was signed to replace him. When Sam Bradford got injured Case Keenum was signed to replace him. Also, we have Kyle Sloter who just finished his rookie year signed on the Viking’s practice squad. At the conclusion of the season all the quarterbacks’ injuries have healed and they are ready to play.

Now that the NFL 2018 season has ended, Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Bradford, and Case Keenum are all free agents. Now, the question is who to re-sign. In addition, all four of the quarterbacks previously signed by Minnesota are recovered from their injuries. I have heard lots of chatter about who Minnesota is going to sign. Many people are wondering whether Bridgewater, Bradford, or Keenum are going to demand a high salary. Also, Kirk Cousins who spent last season with the Washington Redskins is a free agent. Some football fans are wondering whether the Vikings are going to ditch Keenum, Bradford, and Bridgewater all together to sign Kirk Cousins. Everyone seems to have their predictions and opinions.

In my opinion I would like to see Case Keenum as the starting quarterback for the next season. If Teddy Bridgewater does not demand a ridiculously high salary I would like to see him as the backup quarterback. If Bridgewater requests an undeserved pay raise I would not re-sign him and I would draft a quarterback early in the draft to be the backup for Keenum. If Coach Zimmer follows my simple but effective plan, the Minnesota Vikings will be Super Bowl LIII Champions.
