Girls Basketball Gets Off to a Rocky Start

The Lady Broncos kicked off their season this past weekend at the Bakersfield Tournament. The Varsity girls did not get off to a hot start, dropping 3 of their 4 games.

In the first game the Broncos fell short of Mira Monte High School, losing by a score of 36-26. Gracie Soto and Shawnau Johnson had 9 points and 6 points respectively. The Broncos then went on to dropped the second game 41-10, with Manese Braithwaite scoring 4 points. The third straight loss for the girls came at the hands of South High School by a score of 35-23, with Drew Dondero scoring 8 points and Shawnau Johnson scoring 4.

The Broncos rebounded in the fourth game, beating Foothill High School by a score of  45-12, earning their first win of the season. Shawnau Johnson and Manese Braithwaite each had 14 points while Liza Joya scored 6.
