Bishop Union High School football Coach Arnie Palu got the “Model Coach of the Year” Award presented by the California Interscholastic Federation.
Palu was appointed this award for succeeding the six core ethical values: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and good citizenship (the “Six Pillars of Character”). The CIF believes that high-potential sports can be achieved from (T.E.A.M.): Teach, Enforce, Advocate, and Model. Arnie Palu modeled all of these attributes while leading his team to the State Championships. CIF Executive Director Ron Nocetti states, “These Model Coaches exemplify education-based athletics, leading their student-athletes and communities by modeling trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and good citizenship, while creating opportunities for students to belong, connect, and compete.”
Arnie Palu was recognized not only for his team’s competitive success but also for their sportsmanship, class, and professionalism.
