For more than 13 years Orange Lutheran High School has been partnering with the Paiute Tribe in the Owens Valley. Each year in September and March during a long weekend about 100 students and chaperones volunteer in locations throughout the valley.
They paint, pull weeds, rehab homes, ext. They’ve helped develop the gardens and play areas at Head Start, helped to build the dance studio at AkaMaya Dance Studio and worked in the Bishop Community Garden.
They would like to invite Bishop High School students to partner with them to expand service in the Paiute and Bishop community. Please join them for a day of service from 9:30am-3:30pm on Saturday, March 21st.
They expect to be serving at 15-20 different locations on Saturday including Eastern Sierra Land Trust, AkaMaya Culture Group, Owens Valley Indian Water Commission, Bishop Indian Headstart, Grace Lutheran Church, Bishop Community Garden, Bishop Paiute Tribe Food Soveergnty, ext.
They will email all volunteers during the week before Saturday, March 21 with a specific location and assignment. They’ll meet you at the service site at 9:30 am. Please bring a water bottle and a bag lunch. You’ll work together until about 3:30 pm. We hope to have you join us for this incredible opportunity!
