Peter “PJ” Kuzmitski is a student athlete at Yosemite High School, who had to undergo an amputation below his right knee on October 3rd after sustaining a terrible injury during his JV football practice on September 27.

Peter’s community has rallied around him, praying for his speedy recovery while his teammates have put words on the backs of their helmets such as “Playing for you Peter”. According to his coach Mike Gipson, Peter has said that “he’s confident he will be back”.

After hearing of this tragic incident Jim Tyler, the videographer for the football team, came up with the idea to donate the proceeds from the 50/50 raffle, which is run by the booster club, to Kuzmitski and his family. Mr. Tyler then ran the idea by the president of the booster club, Kellian Palu, who is a Bishop alumni from the class of ‘95. Mrs. Palu okayed the idea and the board voted unanimously to donate all of the proceeds to Kuzmitski.

The club made $720 in profits from 50/50 purchases and donations. The winner of the raffle, a Kern Valley resident, donated $200 of his earnings back to Peter.
