The Broncos won the schools 4th CIF Division Championship Friday night with a convincing 69-21 win at Woodlake. The 2025 team joins the 1957, 2010 and 2019 teams as CIF champions.
Friday night the Broncos scored on the first play from scrimmage as sophomore Hunter Dailey sprinted 70 yards for a touchdown. Dailey had a big night with 284 yards on just 13 carries scoring 3 touchdowns. Elliott Douda added 47 yards on 6 carries and a pair of touchdowns. Malachi Orrick carried the ball twice for two touchdowns. The offensive line of Sage Conners, Brody Berkovatz, Tavien Davis, Kole Barlow, Darrick Cortez, Jason Rinehart Jr, and Daxen Svacina did a great job all night. Quarterback Emory Dondero did a great job operating the offense completing 9 of 13 passes for 192 yards and two touchdown passes. Dailey caught 2 passes for 48 yards including a touchdown. Elliott Douda caught 3 passes for 49 yards and Levi Derr caught a 70 yard touchdown.
Defensively the Broncos held Woodlake scoreless in the first half and picked off 4 passes on the night to keep Bishop’s comfortable lead. Richie Talavera and Carlos Sualez both had two interceptions with Sualez returning his second pick 90 yards for a touchdown. Talavera had 7 solo tackles and Sualez recorded 5 solos. Dom Dondero had 6 solos, 3 assists and a quarterback sack. DeVaun Mitchell had 5 solos, 5 assists and a tackle for loss. Elliott Douda made 5 solo tackles and broke up 2 passes. Chucky Delgado had 4 solos and also broke up 2 passes. Levi Derr had 3 solos and 4 QB hurries. Hunter Dailey had 5 solos and broke up a pass. Malachi Orrick had 5 solo tackles including 2 tackles for loss. Darrick Cortez had a sack and a TFL and Davis Smith had a pair of solo tackles and a QB pressure.
Bishop will now face South Gate in the CIF regional round. A win in the Regional Round would advance the Broncos to the State Championship.
