Broncos fell 9-7 to Pioneer Valley Thursday night in the 2nd round of the CIF Central Section Division 5 Championships. The loss ends the 2022 season for the Broncos who finish with a 9-1 record. The Pioneers opened a 6-0 halftime lead and stretched that lead to 9-0 after a 3rd quarter field goal. The Broncos answered with a Albert Cano touchdown run to pull closer, but turned the ball over in the final minute ending the comeback attempt. 

The Bronco Defense was tough throughout the night with senior linebackers leading the way. Cain Omohundro made a team high 10 solo tackles including a tackle for loss. Albert Cano made 8 solo tackles and a tackle for loss. Safety Carson Schmidt made 5 solo tackles and broke up a pass. Cheveyo Marquez made 5 solo tackles. Milton Michel, Isaac Reno and Reese Dondero each had 4 solo tackles. Austin Powell 3 solo tackles including 2 tackles for loss. Kaelan Smith had 3 solo tackles including a tackle for loss and knocked down one pass.

 Offensively the Broncos were led on the ground by Senior Cain Omohundro who carried the ball 11 times for 39 yards. Cano had 4 carries for 7 yards and the touchdown. Boden St. Marie completed 6 of 16 passes for 94 yards. Michel made 2 catches for 44 yards and Omohundro also pulled down 2 receptions for 44 yards.

This years seniors include Aden Arndal, Glen Barfield Dukes, Albert Cano, John Cortes, Reese Dondero, Riley Eropkin, Jayda Jackson, Christopher Lopez, Bryce Lyons, Cheveyo Marquez, Nathan Navarrete, Cain Omohundro, Isaac Reno, Carson Schmidt and Kaelan Smith.

Thanks to the Bronco coaching staff for their hard work and dedication to our athletes and the program. We will go right back to work and pick up where the senior class left off and get better for 2023. This senior class will be missed. They finished their careers as back to back HDL Champions and completed an undefeated regular season. Go Broncos!” Coach Palu.
