Doctor Strange Review

This past Sunday I had the immense pleasure of seeing Marvel’s latest creation, Doctor Strange. Doctor Strange follows Doctor Stephen Strange on his road to recovery after a horrible accident that affected his hands. Strange finds himself learning about the spiritual aspect of our world and uncovers the many secrets of our universe. Overall, I would rate this movie a solid 8/10. Benedict Cumberbatch delivered a strong performance although, as an avid fan of Sherlock, I must admit it was weird hearing him speak with an American accent. There was a touch of romance, but it was built up well enough to not seem too forced, unlike previous Marvel couples *cough* Sharon and Steve *cough*. As for the humor, I found the one liners to be well placed and did not disrupt the flow of the movie. Specifically, the character of Wong really stole the show in my opinion. The visual effects for this movie were absolutely spectacular. The visuals were trippy and weird (Rather strange if you will) but also looked incredibly realistic. I applaud the crew who worked incredibly hard on this film. My only complaint would be the villain, Kaecilius. I did not find the villain to be very menacing or intriguing, but instead he seemed rather bland and insipid. The action scenes with this character were exciting, but the villain himself was just another villain who we have all seen before. Kaecilius gathered a small army, had morally ambiguous ambitions, and wanted to basically destroy the world to create a better universe. Other than this, I believe Doctor Strange measures up well to other movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I encourage everyone to go out to the theaters this weekend to see this thrilling superhero movie. Also STAY AFTER THE CREDITS. There is both a little something in the mid credits AND something after all of the credits. Many people left before seeing a little glimpse of a fellow Marvel hero and the origin of a new villain. I repeat STAY AFTER ALL THE CREDITS. This usually holds true with all Marvel movies. If you did see Doctor Strange already, please let me know in the comments what you thought!
