Recently I have interviewed Coach Lee Ragland, sister of Jv head coach Linda Frigerio, who put her life on hold in Texas to come to Bishop and coach Bronco Volleyball, because “It was in the best interest of her family, as she also loves bishop”. What  motivated her to put her life on hold in Texas was that she figured she wouldn’t, “have the opportunity to do it again and have the full support of [her] family in Texas. We’re strong enough to be apart for 3 months.” Being away from her family may have been tough but she had the company of her sister which she enjoys coaching with because “[we] are so like minded that sometimes it is scary.” Lee stated that “ [she] admires all that [Linda] has done here in Bishop as a coach, an educator and mother. I don’t know that I would’ve been this content with any of my other sisters.” Some of the struggles of coaching “is the same as playing. Am I making the right decisions, and am i coaching each player in the way they need to be coached.”

The  difference between volleyball in Bishop from Texas is “Everything! In Texas girls play competitive volleyball at 11 years old, so by the time they’re in high school they’ve played 5 seasons of highly competitive volleyball. But I love the girls here so much more. The sense of family and community is far superior here. ” Coming to bishop Lee expected “The team to care about each other and truly be fans for and of each other. Hard work and commitment were also high on my expectation list. “So far all the people wandering she has decided that  she is coming back for all the reasons above.
