Broncos Big 1st Half Enough to Take Down Fernley

The Bishop Broncos move to 3-0 with a 31-22 win over Fernley Nevada. The first half ended with the Broncos up 31-0 thanks to a strong defensive effort, balanced offensive attack and solid special teams. The Broncos now hit the road for the next four games.
Victor Esparza puts points on the board with a 33 yard field goal in the first drive. Junior Quarterback Boden St. Marie had 3 first half rushing touchdowns and connected with Cain Omohundro for a touchdown pass.
For the Bronco Defense,  Wesley Jorgensen had a huge night with 6 solo tackles, forced a fumble, recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass in the games final minutes to close out the game. Kaelan Smith also had a big game for the defense with a sack and a tackle for a loss. Cesar Esparza had his strongest game as the Junior lineman forced a fumble, recovered a fumble and made 3 solo tackles.
Albert Cano had another well rounded game with 8 total tackles for the defense, 49 yards rushing on offense, and 54 yards on two punt returns. Cano also handled the punting duties. Next up for the Broncos is the “High Desert Classic” with Ridgecrest Burroughs. Bishop Union will travel to Ridgecrest for a 7pm kickoff Friday night.
