Rundown of BUHS Homecoming Week

Ben Holland

The Bishop High School Homecoming week is always a fun and festive time of the year. Packed with exciting events like the powder puff, boys volleyball, Homecoming parade, bonfire, homecoming football game, and dance, Bishop’s spirit is in full force.

Starting off the week with the Senior vs. Junior girl’s flag football game, the powder puff never lacks to excite even if it is rigged. With some good friends you can junk out at the snack bar and enjoy a game of competitive girl’s flag football. On Wednesday, the boys volleyball game spikes the humor and excitement in all of the crowd, as groups of Seniors vs. Juniors compete to win the best of 5 games. On Thursday the homecoming parade and bonfire is held. During the Parade, class floats ride down Homestreet competing for glory of the best float prize. Along with the floats, the homecoming court rides in fancy cars presenting themselves to the public. After the parade, the bonfire is lit with the help of the fire department. At the bonfire the students can socialize with friends and listen to the music while watching the fire burn. On Friday, the big Homecoming football game is held where the Homecoming king and queen are announced during the halftime, as well as the other candidates are presented. You can enjoy the game and halftime show, where the band play and cheer perform.   On Saturday the dance is held,  in which this year was carnival themed. Once you walked in you were blasted with the booming music from the fantastic DJ Cyborg(Taheada Nelson), who rocked his performance with a killer track list. For four hours you could dance or enjoy the snacks and other festivitiebes they had at the dance. With the time and effort put into it from Don Rowan and the ASB team, the dance is a huge success. Overall homecoming week is a time to show your school spirit and enjoy the festivities it holds.
