Bronco Varsity Baseball Goes 3-1 at Yerrington

The Broncos opened play with a 10-2 win over Dayton then lost to South Tahoe 13-0 closing out play Friday.  The Broncos were perfect on the second day of the tournament shutting out both Yerington (6-0) and Lassen (5-0).  The tournament marked the first game for head coach Linda Frigerio. The former head coach of the Bronco volleyball team takes over for Steve Omohundro who has moved into an assistant coaching position for the Broncos.  

Dayton 10-2
The Broncos used an 8-run 4th inning to erase a 2-2 tie in their opening game. Ryley Eropkin had a three-hit game leading the Bronco offense. In addition to collecting three hits, Eropkin also earned the win on the mound pitching all 4 innings allowing just 2 runs on 3 hits while striking out 2. Jake Frigerio, Acie Valdivia, and Kennedy Batchelder all had 2 hits in the opening game victory.  Sophomore Bodie Garcia also collected his first varsity hit drilling a double. 

South Tahoe 13-0

The Bronco offense was silenced in game two by South Tahoe Sophomore Haden Stephen.  Stephen tossed 4 shutout innings allowing just three Bronco hits. The talented Sophomore struck out three while walking none. Bronco starting pitcher Cain Omohundro had a tough time with Vikings hitters as South Tahoe jumped out to an 8-run lead after two innings.  Catcher Reese Dondero, Jake Frigerio, and Riley Eropkin were able to notch hits in game two.

Yerington 6-0

 The Bishop Broncos take the win over Yerington Riley Eropkin, Albert Cano, Bodie Garcia, Cain Omohundro, Acie Valdivia, Kennedy Batchelder led their team with a win with all getting a run batted in Jake Frigerio gets three hits, Acie Valdivia follows behind him getting 2 hits. Pitcher Jake Friegrio struck out 5. Which led them to a final score of 6-0  Lassen 5-0

In the tournament’s final game the Broncos made quick work of the Lassen Grizzlies from Susanville.  Jake Frigerio led the team with 2 hits and Junior Albert Cano drove in a pair of runs helping the Broncos to a quick 5-0 lead after two innings.  Cano and Frigerio also stole a pair of bases in the victory. Acie Valdivia and Albert Cano handled the pitching duties combining for the shutout.  

Next up for the Broncos is a trip to Ridgecrest Wednesday for a matchup with Burroughs high school.
