Track and Field went to Buchanan Distance Classic Saturday, April 17.

“The Buchanan Distance Classic was held at the beautiful Veteran’s Memorial track stadium at Buchanan High School in Clovis, the site of the CIF State Track & Field Championships, and followed strict COVID guidelines including masking and social distancing,” Walsh said. “Due to qualification standards for the meet, the Bishop Union athletes have had to work very hard to get such a quality running opportunity.”

They took Senior Sierra Burror, Juniors Dominic Westervelt, Diego Honda, Ezra Spoonhunter, Sophmore Brandon Gardea, and Freshmans Ashley Fitt and Alexander Adkins.

Sierra Burror “had two solid performances, earning medals in both; one in the 1600 meters (5:13.77) and the other in the 3200 meters (11:09.50).” Walsh said.

Diego Honda ran the 1600 meters with a time of (4:43.30) and the 3200 meters with a time of (10:17.50). Dominic Westervelt ran the 800 meters and the 1600 meters with times of (2:06.20) and (4:40.54)

Freshman Ashley Fitt and Alexander Adkins both ran the 800 meters and the 1600 meters. Ashley got (2:36.24) in the 800 meters and (5:46.64) in the 1600 meters. For Alexander Adkins, he set his personal best with (2:36.50)  for the 800 meters and (5:34.36) for the 1600 meters. Brandon Gardea ran a personal best of (2:23.57)  for the 800 meters and (5:00.54) for the 1600.

BUHS Track and Field Had a great time Saturday and are looking forward to their next meet which is the West Coast Relays on May 1st, 2021 in Clovis California.
