The Bishop Bronco Wrestling Team competed in the Boy’s CIF Central Section Division 5 Championships in Visalia. Sophomore Renee Ashworth wrestled at the Girl’s CIF Central Section Divisional Championships in Tulane. There were a total of 22 teams in the Boys Championships, in order to advance to the Central Section Masters Tournament wrestlers have to place in the top three in their weight class. Unfortunately no Bronco made it to the top three and only two Bronco Wrestlers that advanced the furthest were Will Hennarty and Billy McKinzey, they both made it to the consolation semifinals before losing.

In the girls tournament, Renee Ashworth wrestled at 128 pounds and won her first match by a score of 20-14. Following up with her second match she lost against the number on seeded wrestler.

Overall, coach Mark Hodges was pleased with the way his wrestlers performed even though no one made it to the Masters Tournament. He mentioned that this is a very young team and everyone is excited to return next year and improve their wrestling.
