The Broncos stampede the Mustangs in Playoffs

The Bishop Broncos earned themselves a home CIF victory over former HDL foe Mojave. Bishop was down in the first quarter but rallied in the second taking a 34-22 lead into the locker room at halftime. With the win, the Broncos now advance to the second round on Thursday when they travel to Fresno to face the #2 seed, Fresno Christian.

The Broncos were able to overcome a slow start and take the game 65-56. We asked junior Clay Omohundro  if he thought that there were any stand out players for this game and he told us that “this game was a team win and everyone made it happen, there wasn’t just one stand out player.”

Bishop and Mojave have not played regularly since Mojave exited the High Desert League after the opening of California City High School diminished their enrollment. The Broncos and Mustangs have a long history of spirited competition, and last night’s game did not disappoint.

The Division 5 bracket has now been reduced to 8 teams. In addition to Bishop and Fresno Christian in the lower half of the bracket, #3 Riverdale and #11 Parlier square off on Thursday.  In the upper portion of the bracket #1 Fowler and #8 Strathmore play with the winner playing the winner of #4 Lindsay and #5 Corcoran.
