Opinion on the Debate for 2016

Overall the debate was a bash fest between Republican Candidate Donald Trump and Democratic Candidate Hillary Clinton. Both Candidates had damaging information released about each other on Saturday October 08, 2016. A video from a talk show in 2005 was released with Trump meeting a Soap opera Star, the tape’s explicit content included lewd messages about women.  For Hillary Clinton, a leak from Wikileaks, had released some of the emails from her private email server, which has caused major controversy since the 2013 Benghazi attack when Former U.S Ambassador Chris Stevens was killed in Benghazi Libya.

The debate was held at the prestigious Washington University , and kept some Americans at the edge of their seat as the two candidate hit each other with rude comments and past actions that had already raised the American public’s attention. Hillary Clinton opened up the debate by stating, ” I have a very positive and optimistic about what we can do together… I have set forth some big goals, getting the economy to work for everyone, not just those at the top, making sure that we have the best education system from preschool through college and making it affordable and so much else.” The question that had entered some brains is, “how Hillary?” How are you going to improve our education system and how will our economy help every single person with in the american population. Later on in her statement she says, “I want to be the president for all Americans, regardless of your political beliefs, where  you come from, what you look like, your religion. I want us to heal our country.” This idealized notion harnesses the American way and what our founding fathers wanted for our country. In major documents the American people thrive for, ” all men created equal.”

But how does a president go by, making the american public united in ideology? Donald Trump stated in his opening, “We are going to bring a strong border. We are going to bring back Law and Order.” And no not Law and Order the TV series that has entertainment seekers inching toward the lit up screen everyday, but the Law and Order that this country is lacking in. With different life groups rioting in the streets of large cities like Baltimore and Charlotte, there leave no room for law enforcement to do what is necessary to keep the American people safe. Trump in his same statement says, ” We have to bring back respect for law enforcement. At the same time we need to take care of people on all sides. We need Justice.” It is true Law enforcement needs respect from all races and all genders. But shouldn’t all people have respect for others regardless of race, religion, beliefs and gender?  Doesn’t Trumps comments made in the explicit tape make his statement during the debate hypocritical? Anti Trump supporters and some woman would say yes it does, others say that the tape occurred so long ago that it doesn’t seem to correlate to this year’s election.  That’s up to the American people.

The Moderator had brought to the attention the example that these two candidates are setting for the youth of America, Moderator Anderson Cooper ( CNN) had elicited, ” The question form Patrice was about you both modeling positive behavior for today’s youth? We received a lot of questions online, Mr. Trump, about the tape that was released on Friday, as you can imagine. You called what you said,’ Locker room banter’ You described kissing women without consent, grabbing their genitals. That is sexual assault. You bragged that you have sexually assaulted women. Do you understand that? Trump denied the remark made by Anderson saying,” No I didn’t say that at all. I don’t think you understand what was–this was locker room talk. I’m not proud of it. I apologize to my family. I apologize to the American people. Certainly I am not proud of it. But this is locker room talk.” (Any athlete that is reading this please fill free to comment below whether or not this is locker room talk among male and female athletes.) Trump later on attempts to connect this to the issue of the Islamic extremest group ISIS, this failed attempt leads back into harmless locker room banter. Mr. Trump do you think it is right for you to state this vulgar and explicit description  of sexual assault and then call it harmless locker room talk? Hillary Clinton is it okay for you to call the women that your husband and former President Bill Clinton has rapped and sexually assaulted , ” trailer trash”? What kind of image does this spread to our American children who are witnessing the cat fight between these two candidates that are going to be running the United States of America.

For America to stay united and true to our Country’s title we as the American people must decide who the better candidate is to run our country. Please comment below your thoughts that this article brought and what candidate you think this country needs.
