Saturday at around 11 A.M Barfield defeated Alexa Garcia from Sierra High School with a pin in the second period sending her to the third/fourth place match. Here she was up against Jersey Estrada who had beaten her in the quarterfinals where she was pinned in the second period.The loss to Estrada ended Barfield’s C.I.F weekend and put her in fourth place in the state overall.
This placing carries special significance considering that the High Desert League has never had a wrestler place during state finals.
