Cal City Ravens vs Bishop Broncos: Boys Varsity Soccer Review

“We were excited to win, staying undefeated is just the icing on the cake.” -Steve Nash. The Bishop Broncos have officially sealed a share of the HDL Championship with their latest match against Cal City. However the Broncos will be looking forward to their next match to avoid splitting the title with their league rivals, the Rosamond Roadrunners.

On Thursday, February 1st, at 5:00pm, the Bishop Broncos traveled to Cal City with hopes of repeating what they did in the home match that forced a 3-0 win over the Cal City Ravens.

The Broncos opened the scoring at about the ten minute mark with number 14, Christian Cortez. The halftime score of this match was 3-0 in favor of the Broncos who later won the match by a score of 6-0.

This means the Bishop Broncos are now undefeated in all of their nine league matches played so far, and undefeated in eleven consecutive games in all competitions.

Throughout these nine HDL matches, the Broncos have scored an astounding 57 goals, and they have only received 4 goals.

The Lady Broncos also managed to get a win at Cal City. The final score of this match was 8-2. The Lady Broncos have scored 29 HDL goals this season, and they have received 8 goals. They are currently tied in first place with the Lady Rosamond Roadrunners.

Next up for the Broncos is their last High Desert League (HDL) match. They will be taking on the Frazier Mountain Falcons at home on  Tuesday, February 6th, at 5:00pm. The last time these two teams collided, the game took place in Fraizer, the final score was 4-0 in favor of the Bishop Broncos.

There are high stakes for the Broncos in this match, because a loss to the Falcons would mean the Rosamond Roadrunners and the Bishop Broncos would be Co-Champions of the HDL. This will also be senior night, serving as more motivation for the Broncos to fight until the end to secure the HDL Championship for themselves.
