BUHS Traditions: Then vs. Now Volume 4
December 15, 2017
We have made it to volume 4 of our old traditions here at BUHS. This time around we are going to be talking about old traditions and clubs that they had in 1990 and 1991.
We are going to start off with traditions that they had back in 1990. In 1990 they had a page in the yearbook called First Week Jitters and here they showed many students in the first week of school. Also in 1990 they had a site council and a mock trial, the last mock trial held at BUHS was taught by Mrs. Martinez, also we had 2 of our teachers that still put up with us which are Mr. Yolken and Mr. Daugherty.
Something 1990 and 1991 shared was the fact that they didn’t have senior quotes which is something that we have now but, is it a good thing or a bad thing?
In 1991 they had many different traditions that we do see and that we don’t see and here are some of them, the outing club, college night, hairdos at BUHS, career day and ROP art class. The Outing Club still exists today but now it is called the Outdoors Club and it is held by Mrs. Kress. College Night is something that we believe doesn’t exist anymore but it could and it isn’t greatly advertised on school campus along with Career Day which we believe is still a thing but isn’t talked about very much. Another thing that they had in the yearbook in 1991 was Hairdos At BUHS now we don’t have this anymore. The ROP Art Class which is the Regional Occupational Program but now it is still here and it is called the CTE.
