Huskies vs Broncos
Yesterday, Tuesday, December 12th at 3:00pm the Mammoth Huskies took on the Bishop Broncos on the Whitmore turf field. The final score of this game was 2-1 in favor of the Huskies.
Last season when Bishop played Mammoth in Whitmore the final score was 6-1 in favor of mammoth. The game that was supposed to take place last season in Bishop was cancelled due to extreme weather conditions.
Although this game was technically a pre-season match, there was still an obvious rivalry between the two teams and both teams understood the bragging rights that were at stake. This ultimately led to a couple yellow cards for each team.
The Broncos started off very well with Ismael Santana scoring a goal that went in off the post after an excellent strike. The Huskies took a while to get the equalizer but it did come in the first half. Shortly after their equalizer, the Huskies took the lead with a headed effort at goal.
There was also a controversial play by the Bishop Broncos in the second half in which the Broncos did put the ball into the back of the Huskies net, however the referee on the sideline flagged for offside, disallowing the Bishop goal.
The Lady Broncos got a 2-1 win against Mammoth before the boys played. Next up for the Broncos is a weekend tournament in Bakersfield.
