November 8, 2017
Thunderbirds Beat Broncos 41-12
Last Friday the Broncos suffered a tough loss to the Kennedy Thunderbirds on 11/3/17. The Broncos offense struggled the whole game, never scoring more than 7 points in a quarter. After the first quarter the Broncos were only down by 4 points and were still not far behind at the end of the first half with the score being 14-5. The Broncos scored their first, and only, touchdown of the game in the third quarter but the Thunderbirds answered with two of their own. In the final quarter the Broncos offense was not able to put up any points while Kennedy scored 13 more points leading to the final score of 41-12.
For the Broncos, sophomore Quarterback Luke McClean threw for 161 yards with one interception and a 67% completion rating as well as rushing for 51 yards on 15 carries. The Broncos had a total of 114 rushing yards with Senior Mike Molina picking up just 15 yards on 7 carries. On the defensive side of the ball Juniors Patrick Flanigan and Kade Edmiston each had a sack and Arturo Lemus had an interception returned for 14 yards.
Head Varsity coach Arnie Palu said that “[The Broncos] left a lot of points on the field. We were able to drive the ball well in the first half, but just could not break through. We missed a field goal and had a goal line interception that really changed momentum. Kennedy is a strong team and I think they will make a deep run in the division 5 bracket.” Bishop now has a 5-5 record on the year and will face off against Hanford West in the first round of CIF.
