The Broncos improve to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in High Desert League play with a 63-6 win over Desert Friday night. The Broncos wrap up the regular season with a trip to rival Kern Valley on Halloween night.
In the win vs Desert Elliott Douda returned a punt for a touchdown to get the scoring started. David Smith blocked a Desert punt, setting up a touchdown pass from Emory Dondero to Levi Derr. Dondero then connected with Carlos Sualez for a touchdown, extending the lead. Dom Barlow then took over at quarterback and scored the first of three rushing touchdowns on the night. Running back Jaxon White added a touchdown, and Richie Talevera returned the second-half kickoff for a score. DeVaun Mitchell had a 6o yard touchdown run and Karsen Hohenstein tackled a scorpion in the endzone for a safety. Hohenstein had a big night with the safety and a pair of interceptions. Noah Castellanos had his best night as a Bronco with 3 quarterback sacks and a team high 8 solo tackles. Levi Derr had a pair of sacks, and senior defensive lineman Niko Poole had a sack. Sergio Sandoval, DeVaun Mitchell, Dom Dondero, and David Smith also had quarterback sacks.
Following the Kern Valley game the Broncos will await the playoff bracket from the CIF Central Section offices. The Bracket will be out on Saturday, November 1st.
