The Broncos even their record to 2-2 and keep the rivalry trophy with a 53-0 win over Burroughs High School of Ridgecrest. The defense pitched their first shut out of the season forcing 6 turnovers. The offense capitalized on the takeaways to put up 53 points. Defensively Elliott Douda, Carlos Sualez and Dom Barlow all had interceptions. Dom Dondero, Jaidyn McKellips, and Knox Moffett all recovered fumbles. Quarterback Emory Dondero had a big night completing 13 of 18 passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns. Levi Derr, Carlos Sualez, and Dom Dondero all caught touchdown passes. Emory also rushed for a score. Running backs Elliott Douda and Hunter Dailey had big nights. Dailey rushed for 110 yards and a pair of touchdowns on just 6 attempts while Douda gained 72 yards and a touchdown on just 4 attempts. Players of the game. Overall-Carlos Sualez Senior Linebacker and Receiver had a big night on both sides of the ball. Carlos led the defense with 7 solo tackles, 2 Tackles for a loss and an interception. The senior also caught a team high 5 passes for 92 yards including a touchdown. Offensive-Emory Dondero Senior Quarterback 13 of 18 passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns. The senior also rushed for a score. Defensive-Dom Dondero Junior Linebacker had 3 solo tackles, a tackle for a loss and recovered a fumble. Dom also had a pair of quarterback hurries. Special Teams-Elliott Douda The senior punt returner rolled up 57 return yards on two returns and also had a big night on both offense and defense. Douda turned just 4 rushes into 72 yards and a touchdown while making 2 solo tackles on defense and picking off a pass. Head Coach, Arnie Palu had comments. “I was really proud of the way the boys performed in all three phases of the game. We were able to force turnovers and we were very efficient on offense. We get one more tune up game before we open HDL play with Rosamond.”
