Waterway Safety; ATTENTION!!

Jordan Kost

This winter, everyone watched the computer screen with itching anticipation to see the new record breaking snow fall up on the mountains. This winter season has been abundant with snowfall and as the weather warms all that snow, of course, melts. A favorite past time for locals and tourist during summer is cooling down in the canals and rivers in the Owens Valley. However, the Sheriff and Inyo County would like to remind the community to be mindful of the water ways. They are at FULL capacity this year. I personally have been to a couple of these full waterways and on the surface the water appears calm, but underneath the current is strong. The strong current is picking up debris which can harm anyone who is in it’s path! Please, be mindful of warning signs posted next to canals and waterways.  Having a relaxing and fun summer, includes safety!
