The Bishop varsity softball team showcased their talent and teamwork on Friday, hosting Frazier Mt in a thrilling match-up that ended with a decisive 12 to 1 victory in just five innings. The team’s solid performance both offensively and defensively was highlighted by standout pitching from Sadie Mairs, who threw all five innings, allowing only one hit while striking out six batters and issuing four walks.
Offensively, the team was on fire. Katya Fierro led the charge, going 2 for 2 at the plate, with one walk, one hit by pitch, and scoring three runs. Sadie Mairs contributed significantly as well, finishing 2 for 3 with a sacrifice bunt, one stolen base, one RBI, and one run scored. Faye Spoonhunter had an impressive outing, walking all four times she came to bat, stealing two bases, and driving in one run while scoring twice herself. Cambrie Lanphear shined with two doubles, totaling two RBIs and scoring two runs.
Other notable performances included Tannyr Ludwick, who went 1 for 2 with two RBIs, Ellie Boyd, who was 1 for 1 with a sacrifice bunt and one RBI, Laila Beall, who walked once and scored, and Analee Guerrero, who finished 2 for 2 with a walk and two stolen bases. Sienna Fuller also made her mark by walking once and scoring, while Ania Durham added another RBI to the tally.
With this impressive win, the Bishop varsity softball team demonstrated their strength and determination, setting a positive tone for the rest of the season.
