Bishop Varsity Softball Falls to Kern Valley in Close League Matchup
On Tuesday, April 2, the Bishop varsity softball team traveled to Kern Valley for an intense league matchup, ultimately falling short with a score of 12-8. Despite the loss, Bishop showcased a strong offensive performance, outhitting Kern Valley 11 hits to 5.
Sienna Fuller took the mound for Bishop, pitching 4 and 1/3 innings, where she allowed 9 runs on 4 hits, with 2 strikeouts and 8 walks. Sadie Mairs stepped in for 1 and 2/3 innings, giving up 3 runs on 1 hit, recording 1 strikeout and 3 walks.
Offensively, several players shined for Bishop. Katya Fierro led the charge, going 2 for 4 with a run scored. Cadence Not contributed by walking once, stealing a base, and scoring a run. Faye Spoonhunter had a standout game, finishing 2 for 3 with a sacrifice bunt, 3 stolen bases, and 2 runs scored. Cambrie Lanphear added to the team’s efforts with a 1 for 3 performance, including a walk, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs scored. Tannyr Ludwick was impressive at the plate, going 3 for 3 with a sacrifice, 3 stolen bases, 1 RBI, and 1 run scored. Ellie Boyd also made an impact with a 2 for 3 showing, adding a walk and an RBI. Sienna Fuller contributed with a walk, was hit by a pitch, and recorded 1 RBI, while Sadie Mairs finished 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored.
