The Broncos traveled to Cal City for a league match Wednesday and the Broncos played very well for course conditions coming away with the win. The Broncos posted a team score of 422 with Desert coming in 2nd with a 490, Cal City posted a score of 510 and Kern Valley finishing with a 626.
Coach Derek Carrington said, “The weather actually cooperated for once this year, with no wind and the temperature was in the upper 80’s. The Broncos had played Cal City 3 times already so we knew how to attack the course and give ourselves decent shots and opportunities. It paid off and the team was happy. Considering the start we had I am very pleased at the outcome.”
Leading the way for the Broncos was Freshman Francesco Toscanini, getting a low score of 78.
Senior Captain Cooper Beard had another strong outing and finished with an 80.
Senior Parker Pope turned in a score of 86 and continues to score less each week. Rounding out the scoring, freshman Zane Nicholson 87, Senior Garin Pritchard 89, Junior Robby McBride 89 and Senior Travis Cano finishing with a 91.
The Team Score was the lowest on the season. Carrington said, “I am very proud of how this team conducts themselves on and off the course. Especially in awkward and challenging circumstances. They play with integrity and amazing ethics!”
Next league match for the Broncos is Wednesday April 30th when we travel to Edwards Air Force Base.
