Bishop fell behind 2-0 Thursday to rival Kern Valley but rallied to win their HDL opener.
Offensively Junior shortstop Will Kemp led the way going 2-for-3 with and RBI, a walk ,and two runs scored. Josiah Dondero, Mike Trejo ,and Reuben Nicholson each added a hit while the team’s patience at the plate was evident as they drew 10 walks. Junior Richie Talavera had an exceptional eye, earning three walks on the day.
On the mound Junior Elliott Douda got the start pitching three innings while allowing two runs on two hits. Douda struck out four and did not issue walk. Freshman Knox Moffett provided strong middle relief striking out the side in the fourth inning and allowing just one runner on one hit over 1 and a third innings. Hundy Leeson sealed the victory pitching the final innings without giving up a run. Lesson allowed only two hits while striking out three and walking one.
With this win, the Broncos look ahead to a challenging stretch of games. They will travel to Wasco on Friday and Shafter on Saturday.
