Bishop Softball Kicks Off Season with Strong Effort Despite Loss Bishop Softball played their first game of the season on Friday, facing off against Immanuel Christian in Ridgecrest.
Although the team lost 17 to 7 in 5 innings, the game marked a promising start for Bishop, especially considering some team members had only their first practice on Monday. Sienna Fuller made her debut on the mound, pitching 4 innings and allowing 11 runs on 6 hits, 4 walks, and 1 hit batter, while striking out 3. Despite giving up 5 unearned runs, Fuller showed potential in her first outing. Larissa Ariaz came in as relief in the 5th inning, giving up 6 runs on 5 hits, 1 walk, and 1 hit batter, with 4 of those runs being earned.
Offensively, the team performed well. Katya Fierra went 1 for 3 with 3 stolen bases and 1 run scored. Cambrie Lanphear had an impressive game, going 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, 1 stolen base, and 3 runs scored. Braydee Momberg contributed by going 1 for 3 with 1 run scored. Faye Spoonhunter was 2 for 3 with 2 stolen bases and 1 run scored, while Laila Beall went 2 for 2 with 1 walk, 1 stolen base, and 1 run scored. The coaches were pleased with the team’s performance, noting their solid defensive game. Despite the loss, the team showed great promise and determination, setting a positive tone for the rest of the season.
