Ridgecrest Burroughs pitcher Joaquin Vasquez shut out the Broncos 10-0 in a mercy rule 5 inning game Tuesday. Vasquez struck out 10 Broncos while allowing just two baserunners. Richie Talavera reached on a walk and Aiden Frechette reached on catcher’s interference.
Coach James Chase indicates that Bronco Freshman Knox Moffet was the starting pitcher Tuesday going 3 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 4 hits, walked 4 , and recorded 1 strikeout.
Junior Elliot Douda ended the game going 2 innings allowing 3 earned runs on 5 hits and 2 walks.
Chase notes that Collectively the Broncos defense was solid with just a few well placed base hits. Chase said, “I’m impressed with the way we held ourselves throughout the game, the maturity level and attitudes of our players in a difficult game showed a lot of class.”
The Broncos next game will be March 11 against Lone Pine Eagles.
