The BUHS Bronco Ski Race Team made a strong showing at the first two races! In the South 2 Division of the California Nevada Ski and Snowboard Federation, held on January 16 and 17 at Mammoth Mountain. Competing against teams from Mammoth High School, Rim of the World High School, and Campbell Hall Episcopal High School, the Broncos participated in two Giant Slalom (GS) races on the first day and two Slalom (SL) races on Friday. For the girls’ team, senior Elinor Crall delivered impressive performances, finishing 9th, 11th, and 14th in the GS races, and 12th and 13th in the SL races. Senior Elizabeth Ellsworth secured 19th and 21st place finishes in the GS races. Junior Teagan Orr consistently placed in the top 25, with 18th, 19th, and two 21st place finishes in the GS races, and two 17th and two 18th place finishes in the SL races. Sophomore Edem Felde rounded out the girls’ team with 23rd and 24th place finishes in the GS races and 19th and 20th place finishes in the SL races. The boys’ team also demonstrated strong skiing skills. Sophomore Bo Tanner achieved an impressive 2nd place overall finish in the GS races and a solid 3rd place finish in the SL races. Senior Tyler Gilbert maintained consistency with 5th and 7th place finishes in the GS races and 5th and 6th place finishes in the SL races. Freshman Colin Noesser, in his first ski race, secured commendable 9th place finishes in both GS races. Senior Finn Zeugswetter finished 10th in the GS and 7th in one of the SL races. Freshman Abram Crall clinched a top ten spot with a 10th place finish in his second SL race. Senior Elan Boehme and junior Brody Berkovatz also contributed to the team’s overall performance.
