Varsity Baseball Wasco Tourney

Wasco Tourney Highlights:
Bishop High School Varsity came together as a team in a strong showing at the Wasco Tournament. They competed at a high level and battled every team. They finished fourth in the tournament and their 2 losses were nail biters as one came in a tie-breaker and the second loss was by one run late in the game.
GAME #1, FRIDAY 4/7/17 vs FRAZIER
Bishop Union Varsity Broncos defeated Frazier Mountain 8-0 on Friday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Cal Omohundro started the game with 5 strikeouts, Lukas Di Angelo put up 3 strikeouts, and Kade Wagonerstruck out 3, one to finish off the game.
The Broncos grabbed an early lead, scored on a double by Brodie Maloney in the first inning, a fielder’s choice by Cal Omohundro in the first inning, a passed ball in the first inning, and a double by Michael Kubiak in the second inning. The Broncos collectively had 13 hits in the game. Michael Kubiak, Kade Wagoner, Brodie Maloney, and Druw Allen each collected multiple hits and RBI’s, supported by 3 quality at bats by Lorenzo Parra and 2 by Christian Landaverde.
GAME #2, FRIDAY 4/7/17 vs NORTH
Bishop Union Broncos Varsity and North passed the lead back-and-forth on Friday, but eventually North prevailed 5-3 in a close tie-breaker finish.
The Broncos were led by the pitching of Justin Yates for over 5 innings, then followed by Michael Kubiak and Brodie Maloney, the game was tied at two with North batting in the top of the eighth when there was an error, scoring one run.
Cal Omohundro, Justin Yates, and Hunter Waasdorp each drove in one run to help the Broncos.
GAME #3, SATURDAY 4/8/17 vs. EAST Bakersfield
Bishop Union Broncos Varsity and East Bakersfield passed the lead back-and-forth on Saturday, but eventually East Bakersfield prevailed 4-3.
The Broncos were led by 5 innings of pitching by Cade Pascale, 2 2/3 innings by Blake Johnston and a closeout by Michael Kubiak, the game was tied at three with East Bakersfield batting in the top of the sixth when there was an error, scoring one run.
Blake Johnston had 2 hits, Lorenzo Parra had 3 quality at bats, and Michael Kubiak and Cade Pascale each drove in one run to lead the Broncos.
