Mrs. Thompson – The English Teacher

The Dancing Teacher
Recently I got together with English teacher Mrs. Thompson; asking her about her life story and why she decided to be a teacher. Starting with her life story: she was a self-described Air Force Brat who has traveled all over the country. If fact she has visited all but nine states. She has been married for (Number of years) to her husband, and together they have 1 child. Gretta also has 2 other children, who may not walk on two feet but, four: 2 cats; Joey, and Quincy. She is a Christian who loves singing! She even sings in the worship choir at her church. Her favorite book is Doctor Who, and she loves listening to soft music such as Beethoven. As an English teacher, she would rather read then sleep. A rule that she follows is “ I believe that people are so important and everyone is someone’s child, and you should treat them as your own.”
While asking Mrs. Thompson about what got her into teaching she said “Why most teachers get into teaching: for the ‘light bulb.’ The ‘light bulb’ is when a person understands something and they understand it so well that they are shocked and in awe that they got it.”
Another reason why she wanted to be a teacher was because, when she was in school, she had a great teacher. She has wanted to be a teacher since the 2nd grade, and by 7th grade she knew for sure that, that’s what she wanted to be. The pros of this career are getting to teach people the writing process, and the cons are reading the aftermath of the writing process. Her favorite grade to teach is 7th, because they are crazy enough to do things, but when it comes to the time that they need to do work they do it. “I also believe that knowing how to communicate correctly is a must know for everything.” Mrs. Thompson says.
A quote that she lives by is “Being frustrated and grumpy gives you wrinkles in the wrong places.”
