A back and forth playoff baseball game went to the visiting Bakersfield East Blades 8-4 Tuesday. Tied 3-3 through regulation Bishop appeared to be in position to win the game in the bottom of the 8th. With two men on and one out sophomore Hundy Leeson drilled a line drive to right field but the Blades right fielder made a sliding catch for out number two and doubled off the Bronco baserunner on first to end the inning. East would carry that momentum into the top of the 9th inning where they broke the tie with a five run effort.
The loss ends the Bronco season with an overall record of 15-4 and 13-1 in High Desert League play. The Broncos captured the HDL championship. East moves on to the second round of the CIF central section division 5 championships and will play Sierra in the Quarterfinal Thursday. \
Individually for the Broncos Richie Talavera was 4 for 5 with an RBI. Victor Esparza was 3 for 4 driving in a run and Hundy Leeson, Bodie Garcia and Jamison Wolfe each had hits.
Bodie Garcia started the game on the hill giving way to Noah Cathey with Will Kemp finishing up.
