Last Friday night the Bishop Broncos celebrated with a 89-0 victory against the Desert Scorpions. With the win the Bishop Broncos improve 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the High Desert League play.
In the win over Desert the Broncos had 10 different athletes score touchdowns. Austin Powell scored 2 rushing touchdowns and a punt return touchdown. Garin Pritchard, Kaleb Brooks, Jason Mullner, Boden St. Marie, Emory Dondero, and Elijah Reynolds all scored rushing touchdowns. St. Marie threw a touchdown pass to Richie Talavera and three Broncos scored on interception returns.
Defensively the Broncos were led by Carlos Sualez had 4 total tackles including three solo stops including a tackle for loss. Wes Jorgensen had a strong night with a quarterback sack and a tackle for loss along with a pair of fumble recoveries. Jason Mullner had three solo tackles and broke up three passes. Richie Talavera had three solo tackles, forced a fumble and broke up two passes
Players of the game vs. Desert Austin Powell had 2 touchdowns on his only 2 carries for 82 yards. Powell also returned a punt for a touchdown. Defensively Powell also had a tackle for a loss and a quarterback hurry. Offensive Boden St. Marie completed 5 of 6 passes for 92 yards and a touchdown.Boden St. Marie also ran for a touchdown. Defense Carlos Sualez made three solo tackles including a tackle for loss. The sophomore linebacker also returned an interception for a touchdown. Special Teams Garin Pritchard Junior kicker connected on 11 of 13 point after kicks and also handled the kick off duties.
And next up the Bishop Broncos are up against the Kern Valley Broncs at their home. Game is set for 7pm.
