In the second board meeting of the year which took place on September 12th, 2024, one topic of discussion was the purchase of two new buses for the school. The board discussed that this would in fact be a huge deal for the district. With the entire state of California going electric, we are allowed to purchase two diesel buses due to the areas that the Bishop Unified School District covers. The budget for this project was posted at $240,000 but in reality, this will only cost more around $200,000. It really was a deal considering the amount of money saved and the fact that there are only 100 of these buses statewide. Even though the new buses are slightly smaller getting rid of one seat and one storage compartment, it is worth it due to the discontinuation of the manufacturing of the buses in California. The board asked if it was possible to receive more than two, but that was rejected. The motion was carried by all board members.
