Broncos Varsity Volleyball played a home game against Cal City on September 21 with an unexpecting but exciting game. The Ravens won the match in 5 sets against the Broncos. The Broncos had a strong first two sets winning the first set 30-28, and the second set 25-22 but unfortunately Ravens came back and won the last 3 sets 25-21, 25-14, 15-13.
During game 3, Coach Frigerio indicates the Broncos lost their only senior Lilly Morrison due to feeling lightheaded and not being sure footed. Frigerio indicates that the absence of her leadership and plays were noticeable as Bishop scrambled to adjust the lineup.
Coach Frigerio indicates that Meghana Westervelt and Riley Van Nest showed up to play their defense on leading the team and refusing the ball to hit the floor with 24 and 23 digs. Meghenna Westervelt joined Sophie Dishion in the serve category and together took over half the team passes between the two of them.
Individual highlights include Peyton Kalk’s category with 11 kills and a 61% of her swings resulted in a kill. Elizabeth Ellsworth defended the net with 5 blocks throughout the match and Delaney Kalk and Riley Van Nest leading the serving category with 5 and 4 aces.
