The Bishop Broncos kicked off their home opener with a win against the Ridgecrest Burroughs last Friday night at John Schwab Field. The Broncos notched the win with the score 36-26 against the Burroughs. The Broncos retained the “Eastern Sierra Classic” trophy for another year since 2018. The Series ended in 2001 and restarted in 2018 and ever since the Bishop Bronco have beaten the Burroughs since.
The overall player of the game was Nello Dondero who had a career high of 11 tackles with 5 of them being solo stops. And Nello had an interception and a few pass breaks. The defensive player of the game was Diego Ugalde who had 7 total tackles with 4 solo tackles including 3 TFL’s and also had a fumble recovery. The offensive player of the game was Austin Powell who has 114 rushing yards with 17 carries, he also managed to get 1 rushing touchdown and a passing touchdown too.
Next up for the Broncos is a trip down to Ontario, California to face the Ontario Christian Knights on Saturday. The varsity kickoff is set at 7 pm and after this game, the Broncos will face Rim of the World.
