The Bishop FFA took two groups to Bakersfield yesterday to compete in the Kern-Inyo Sectional Opening and Closing Competition.

Bishop FFA students competed against 11 other schools at Bakersfield High School in the officer and freshman divisions. Each group consisted of six members, a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, reporter, and sentinel and the competition consisted of memorizing and reciting the official FFA meeting opening and closing in front of judges.

Out of the 11 other schools, the freshman group placed fourth in their division. However, they did not place in any of the individual officer positions and the officer group didn’t place in both team and individual divisions.

There will be more travel and competition opportunities for FFA in the future so be sure to keep an eye out for that information as it is announced by Buffington or in the monthly FFA meetings.
