Homecoming Week
October 31, 2016
Homecoming week is one of the funnest weeks throughout the course of the year. People of all classes participate in the festivities that the week holds such as: twin day, tie-dye day, jersey day, class day, and school spirit day. Not including all the events that took place outside of school like the powder puff games, the parade leading to the bonfire, and homecoming itself. These festivities and events could not have been done without ASB. They poured so much time into making sure that homecoming week was jam packed with many fun items on its agenda.
While many people don’t feel the desire to participate in the hoopla that ASB provides, the majority of the school admires the work ASB puts into this week so they feel that they are paying the ASB back for their hard work by engaging in the themed days. Monday was jersey day, so students wore jerseys of their favorite players or favorite teams to school. Tuesday was tie-die day and students wore vibrantly colored shirts and headbands with intricate designs. Wednesday was twin day so friends and teachers dressed up like one another. Thursday was class day, people wore shirts that they designed themselves representing their class and who they were. And finally Friday was school spirit day/ bronco blue day, every student wore blue to show how they represented their school spirit.
The powder puff games were tons of fun as well. The football game between the juniors and senior was thought to be rigged, but really it was a pretty evenly matched game. The volleyball game between the juniors and seniors was a tough loss for the juniors as they lost three out of the four games played. The homecoming parade was a way for all the classes and clubs to represent themselves via trailers that were decorated with much thought put into them. This parade led to a bonfire at the fairgrounds where people stood around a monstrous fire, chatted, got pumped up for the football game and listened to music.
