Varsity Softball Plays Hard in Yerington Tournament

Jayda Jackson

Bronco Softball opens their season at cold, windy Yerington going 1-3 over two days of competition. The Bishop Bronco varsity softball team played Dayton and Truckee on March 4th then continued to play hard on March 5th against Yerington and Monague. The games final scores are Bishop 3 Dayton 10, Bishop 13 Truckee 7, Bishop 5 Yerington 7, and Bishop 1 Monague 17.

The Broncos had limited time, playing 4 games with only 14 innings, but in that amount of time Jaylee Doll, Deborah Fallingstar, Madi Torres, and Jayda Jackson all made 3 hits each. Geneva Molina, Leilani Torres, Kayla Jackson, Kate Anderson, and Rose Braken all got 1 hit apiece. Pitchers for this weekend were Geneva Molina, Leilani Torres, Sienna Fuller, and Jayda Jackson. Jayda Jackson also worked on her catching these past 4 games along with Wasuya Martinez.

The tournament marked the return of Coach Lisa Manulito and her husband Mark. The Manulitos replace Stacy Van Nest who stepped down as softball coach this past offseason.  This is the Manulitos second round as softball head coaches at Bishop Union high school.

The next Bronco game is Wednesday, home against Burroughs. 3;15 at Bishop City Park, Field 2
