Bishop Union High School Softball Finishes the Regular Season

The BUHS Bronco Softball team played their last two games in Rosamond and at home. They lost to Boron 10-0, and they lost to Desert 5-1.

The team’s offense was not in full swing during either game. According to head coach Stacy Van Nest, “we had one bad defensive inning and we could not string our hits together on a very windy day in Rosamond.”

Against Desert, “we just couldn’t string our hits together to score more runs,” she explains.

Even so, there were a few noteworthy hitters during these games. During the Rosamond game, freshman Baileigh Momberg was 2 for 3, senior Jazmyn Dondero had a double, and junior Kayla Jackson had a double. During the Desert game, senior Lauren Allen was 2 for 3 with a double, senior Sadie Dishion had a double, and sophomore Jayda Jackson had a double.

Although they could have done better offensively, the Broncos did excellent defensively during their home game against Desert on Monday, May 24th. “We executed excellent bunt coverage and got the out every time,” Van Nest says.

Pitcher Jazmyn Dondero did an excellent job pitching these past two games. She pitched for all six innings during the Rosamond game and for all seven innings for the Desert game.

Now the Broncos have something else to work for: playoffs. They are very much looking forward to participating in playoffs later this month.

“I’m excited,” Jayda Jackson said.

“Going to playoffs would be great, especially for our seniors,” Kayla Jackson commented.

The BUHS softball team would like to offer their thanks to this year’s seniors: Lauren Allen, MaNeSe Braithwaite, Sadie Dishion, Jessica Doll, Jazmyn Dondero, and Kayla Rodriguez. They would also like to thank the parents for their support and the City Park for the great facilities.
