Tia Barfield Brings Home Bronze for UCLA

Former Bishop Bronco wrestler Tia Barfield, who now wrestles for UCLA, finished in 3^rd place in the women’s NCWA National Championships last Saturday.  Barfield, a 2019 BUHS Graduate is a Freshman wrestling at 170 pounds, Barfield pinned every opponent including the number 1 seed. Her only loss was in the championship semifinals match. She is believed to be the first ex-Bronco to ever wrestle on the national stage.

On her way to Nationals, she finished in 1^st place in California and 1^st in the Western Regionals.

Mark Hodges, her Bronco coach, said, “Many of Tia’s friends and family got to watch her wrestle live on the flowrestling website. My wife and I were getting strange looks from our dog as we were cheering and yelling at the computer. We are all so happy for her.”
